The problem with spineless people is that they have no feelings from the ego down. It is therefore a matter of national interest that before we elect a candidate into public office, we should take the time to determine if he has two essential body parts, a spine and balls.
In a country where government officials are anatomically challenged, the death of DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo is a great loss. I do not know the man personally and cannot offer firsthand testimony, but from everything else that’s written about him, you will find a simple man who did not cheat, steal (public funds or the work of bloggers to fill his speaches:P) or misuse tax money. The stories will reveal too that he quiety loved his country, eschewing fanfare as he labored to ensure transparency, encourage people participation and promote a system of productivity in government.
We only have to look at Naga City, a former third class city that has Robredo to thank for its elevation into first class to understand his value. As its mayor at the age of 29, he worked to streamline internal systems, demolish illegal businesses and eliminate the culture of indolence in government offices. When we look at what he has accomplished, we can only weep at this other mayor whose most astounding achievement is to come out of the closet in his pink slippers.
Robredo was only beginning to work his skillful hands in the DILG when he was taken away. In the words of Lourd de Veyra, who did not publicly attribute this statement to anyone in particular but is fitting to this tragedy anyway, “Bakit ganun? Kung sino pa ang mga kupal, sila pa ang nagtatagal sa mundo– at may pambayad pa ng stem cell treatment.” (Why is it that it’s the as*ho*** who live long — and can even afford stem cell treatment?)
But there must have been some good in this tragedy. Prior to his death, people in my circles didn’t know who he was. Now that his life has been told in public, we all know what he did for the country.
Where can we find another Jesse Robredo?
Perhaps there are some 29-year old would be mayors out there who have been so enthralled by the secretary’s story that they will have started growing the appropriate body parts ideal for public service.
He's a man of character. He will be missed, that's for sure.
I didn't personally Secretary Jess Robredo too, and yes I only know about him now that he's dead. He is a great loss for this nation, but maybe, his death will be an eye opener to our other countrymen who are public officials.
I honestly don't know about him. I have to agree with Zoan…a man like him is a great loss for any nation.

all of use are indeed hoping that Sir Robredo’s successor will make him as an example on how to be a good leader.

I don't know him. I only got to know him after the accident. That's really sad.
I hope Philippines could raise more leaders like him. I am pretty sure it would make a difference.
so so sad. i dont know him either. here in US, all of the officials are corrupt. its hard for them to be honest because their life is at stake. thats what probably happened to him. i hope not. hayz..
My post is about some of his remarkable achievements since his first term as a young mayor until he become the secretary of DILG. He is indeed a man of honor and dignity.
he must be a good man because i hear a lot about him from many people who knows him. as well as co-workers of him. they always praise him for what he did in the country.

I've been hearing the bad tragic news about this man 🙁 I don't know him but sure people likes him. Am so behind with news!
I believe that there is no such man perfectly like him but I am sure that there are also men out there who have similar ideals and principles in life. Who knows those men would find themselves in the same path as Mayor Robredo took.
No matter how much we question why and why — only God knows the answer. God has better plans for him that is why he was taken away so soon. All we can do is pray for him and for the family that he left behind that somehow, they will be comforted in the thought that they will meet the man they lost in that glorious morning.

Sad that his life has ended, but I know his legacy will linger forever. I hope that the government can find someone that has the will and determination to implement the programs that Sec. Robredo left behind.
I don't really know who is he as I lost track of Philippines since I moved out the country. But I have read the news and so saddened of his tragic loss. Sounds like he was the hope of the City but now he's gone and it's devastating. He may rest in peace!
Before the Secretary's death, I knew he had been tasked with leading DILG. He was also known for being one of the rare 'good' people in office, and a lot had been expected of his term. Some people I've spoken with say his magic had not been working well in DILG, that maybe it had not been a good call to move him beyond city-level government. ::( I think he was taken from us too early. Reminds me a bit of Ramon Magsaysay.
